Sunny Mediterranean garden with drought planting
South-facing garden gets a drought-resilient makeover
The owners of this lovely South-facing garden wanted a place to entertain friends, that reminded them of family time spent in the Mediterranean. In our increasingly dry climate, plants from Southern Europe are starting to thrive, so weused a beautiful palette of rosemary, euphorbias, salvias and drought-tolerant grasses. The stars of the garden are two beautiful multi-stemmed olive trees, that will look fantastic all year round. We even found space for the owner’s lovely collection of agapanthus.

Eco-friendly upgrades:
Drought-resilient planting, to make the most of this sunny, well-drained spot. There’s nothing more wasteful than using plants that won’t thrive in your garden’s conditions - and nothing more disappointing, either!
Reused old paving as sub-base for new patio, cutting down on carbon emissions and landfill
Locally sourced soil and wood for new flowerbeds
Improved drainage, to avoid adding to local flooding problems
